Reading Grant Project

Picture

River Edge School District was fortunate to be selected as one of only two Bergen County Districts to participate in the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports Early Reading Grant Project. The New Jersey Tiered System of Supports is a framework of academic and behavioral supports and interventions to improve student achievement.  The focus of this three-year grant project will be on improving reading achievement in Kindergarten through Grade 3.  Our District will receive intensive support from the state, through coaching and high-quality professional development, which will help enhance differentiation in the classroom.  All work for this project will be aligned with and build upon existing screening, assessment, and intervention systems in our schools.

Our New Jersey Department of Education Literacy Coach is Dr. Jessica Hammond.  Dr. Hammond has been visiting our schools every other week since September.  She has been going into K-3 classrooms, working with District staff, and reviewing our Literacy Program.  We are happy to have Dr. Hammond working with our staff to enhance differentiation in our K-3 classrooms.
