Technology in Action!

This year, all 6th grade students at both Roosevelt and Cherry Hill Schools are benefiting from a technology initiative made possible by the Board of Education in preparation for the 2014 online assessment, PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career).
All 6th grade classrooms were outfitted with a classroom set of Chromebooks and have been utilizing them throughout the curriculum.
Senora Idunate incorporated the Chromebooks into the World Language Curriculum in a 6th Grade classroom. After she modeled the activity on the Smartboard, students were able to use the Chromebooks to strengthen the pronunciation of the terms. All students were excited to use the Chromebooks and successfully completed the activity!

Teacher Evaluation System
On September 3, 2013, River Edge Teachers attended an all day seminar which prepared them for the new Stronge Teacher Evaluation System. In order to accommodate the added observations the state requires, River Edge Schools "capitalized on the expertise of the existing staff and added a small administrative component to their roles," according to Dr. Tova Ben Dov, Superintdent. "Ms. Julia Diminich, our former Literacy Coach will now continue in her role as she becomes an Instructional Supervisor and Coach for Language Arts. Ms. Kristen Crawford, one of our Science teachers and coaches, will function as an Instructional Supervisor and Coach for Math and Science, and Ms. Gianna Apicella, our Behavioral Analyst will also be an Instructional Supervisor and assist in the streamlining and evaluation of Basic Skills Instruction, Special Education, and differentiation in the classroom."
