Fifth Grade Field Trip

On June 6th, fifth grade classes from both Roosevelt and Cherry Hill Schools visited the Trailside Museums & Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park.

Trailside Museums and  Zoo houses mammals that are native to New York State, such as the Eastern Coyote (Canis latrans), Beaver (Castor canadensis), Red Fox (Vulpes vlupes), Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum), Opossum (Didelphis virginiana), Black Bears (Ursus americanus) and Woodchuck (Marmota monax).
The animals arrived at Trailside because they were either permanently injured or orphaned and would not be able to survive in the wild. Their presence here offers visitors the opportunity to see them up close and learn about the importance of conserving their natural habitat.

There are four museums at Trailside–all built of native granite. Trailside Museum at Bear Mountain was the second Trailside Museum. The museum that is now known as the Herpetology House was built in 1927. The first Trailside Museum was built in 1924 at Yosemite Glacier Point. The third Trailside Museum was built in 1928 at the Grand Canyon Yavapai Point.

Sixth Grade Graduation

The sixth grades from Both Roosevelt and Cherry Hill Schools graduated at River Dell Regional High School this month!   Graduation is a time to celebrate with all those people, your friends, teachers and parents who have helped you in all the years of Elementary School life and made learning fun. Moments in time like graduation ceremonies may become the memories we cherish most deeply.

As Dr. Seuss wrote, "You're on your own and you know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go..."

Congratulations to all the graduates!  All tthe best at River Dell Middle School!
