JULY 2015
Roosevelt School Welcomes New Principal, Mr. Henzel

Dear Roosevelt School Families,
I am beyond thrilled to be back in River Edge after spending the last three years in Cresskill. I am looking forward to picking up where I left off by reacquainting myself with the students, parents, and faculty, as well as establishing new relationships within the Roosevelt Family. As for myself, my family continues to grow. My wife and I, along with our Rhodesian Ridgeback, welcomed a new addition in February – our son, Cole Michael. I am humbled to begin this new chapter in my life at Roosevelt School with all of you.
The mission of Roosevelt Elementary School is to provide a supportive environment in which all students can reach their maximum academic potential, while developing as responsible citizens who respect individuality. Based on this mission, Roosevelt School strives each day to develop programs and activities which prepare our students to meet the challenges of a constantly changing global society. Staff, students, and parents will continue to work together to make Roosevelt School a great place for students to learn and grow into responsible young adults.
I encourage you to support Roosevelt Elementary School by getting involved.
My door is always open to current and prospective Roosevelt parents. Please reach out to me with any questions by email or by phone- henzelm@riveredgeschools.org or 201.261.1546.
With Roosevelt Pride,
Michael Henzel, Principal

Kindergarten – New Beginnings

This fall, River Edge kindergarten students will be housed in their district home school for the first time in almost a decade. Parent Information Sessions in July and August were designed to help parents become familiar with their local school and personnel. A tour of the building and daily logistics were reviewed to help answer any questions.
As the River Edge Schools focus on the future, the early intervention strategies of full day kindergarten continue at the school where all the students will remain through 6th grade. The Board of Education, along with the district administration, teachers, and staff have been provided with time and resources to make this adjustment in our learning community a success for all stakeholders. Good luck to all our newest students, teachers, and families to the River Edge community, a place “building bright futures together.”
