A Message from the President of the Board of Education
Dear River Edge Community,
We are living in a historical and unprecedented time. It is during times like this that I am reminded of the story that television icon Mr. Rogers used to tell: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”
When we look back on this era, I know that we will remember the helpers-- nurses and doctors, parents and teachers, friends and neighbors, all of whom are putting in their best efforts to ensure that life continues as normally as possible. As we continue with remote learning for the foreseeable future, I especially want to highlight a few groups in our district who will surely be remembered as helpers.
First, are our parents and families. On behalf of the River Edge Board of Education, I want to thank you for your immense adaptability. Our students have transitioned well to remote learning because of your help. The Board thanks you for your patience, admires your perseverance, and hopes for your continued prosperity.
Next, I want to thank the faculty, administrators, and support staff for planning and implementing the educational programs required to continue the learning experience for our students. This is no small task, and it is a testament to the strength of our district how quickly this all came together. Simply put, our staff is the best out there.
Finally, I want to give a special shout-out to the maintenance and custodial crew for their efforts to clean and sanitize our facilities, and to get a head start on some projects that normally could not be undertaken during the school year. You are truly the backbone of our schools, and we are forever grateful.
Overall, the care, hard work, and dedication of everyone has been immensely inspiring during this difficult period. As a former Roosevelt School graduate myself, I know how much heart and pride everyone brings on a daily basis. But to see the community come together at a time like this is extra-special. In this day and time, we are all helpers.
I wish everyone good health and continued strength. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
